This is another of my annual birthday cards. Unfortunately, my scanner is still being a jerkwad and destroying all detail and smoothness in my images. *mutters angrily* Anyway, the image used is a photograph by ~randomsurprise And it's beautiful. Everyone should go to the page and favorite it.

I would also like to point out that the "T" in "Spirit" is stylized to look like Frankenstein.

About time you uploaded something!

I love the concept behind this. The bird is colored very nicely--you blended the color of the feathers so subtly that it looks quite realistic. I also like how the bird and the letters are colored, but the hand is greyscale. It makes the bird stand out more. The only thing that looks a little weird is the way the hand is shaded so you can't see the pinky, and the thumb is a little long, but the rest of the fingers are perfect. Nice job on the calligraphy, as well!

Thanks! ^^ Actually, I defined the pinky more in my drawing than it really was in the photo, but it may be lost a little bit in the scan. Yeah, the thumb is long, but by the time I realized it, I didn't care ^^() You know when you get so far you don't want to go back, right? It was about then. I think I used about 12 different colors on the bird. If you layer them little by little, you get a nicer effect.
